Why The Name "Gosling's Leap"?
I had just left the insurtech I had led for 14 years and was struggling to come up with an appropriate name for my new consulting company. My daughter and I came across an innocuous nature show about the first few days of a barnacle goose's life.
It turns out that barnacle geese lay their eggs at the top of remote cliffs, hundreds of feet high, to protect their eggs and goslings from predators.
We watched horrified and fascinated as the two-day-old goslings followed their parents to the cliff's edge, paused for a moment, and then leaped off, relying on their soft bones and downy feathers to protect their fall.
The goslings fell and bounced and tumbled down the cliff for what seemed like an eternity before landing on the ground below. Amazingly, most of them survived and found their parents nearby, much to our relief.
I thought, what better company name than one that reflects the entrepreneurial spirit and belief in oneself to overcome all challenges.
That's why the name Gosling's Leap.
